Waterdog Lakes

We spent a few days at a rental cabin near Salida, Colorado for Memorial Day. This hike is west of Salida, in the San Isabel National Forest, near the top of Monarch Pass. Of course, the name of the lake attracted us since Sammy is such a water-loving dog. I learned that the lake is actually named after a Tiger Salamander that lives there, not really a Golden Retriever. It is a relatively short, uphill hike to the lakes.

We did not happen to see any salamanders, but we did see some Marsh Marigold wildflowers:
