Section 16 Palmer Red Rock Loop

Date: 12/26/2011
Who: Samadhi (Sammy) and myself
Length: 5.5 miles
Time: 2.4 hours, 11:30 AM – 1:50 PM
Weather: 45 degrees F, slightly overcast

During this hike, I thought it would be fun to blog about hiking. It will allow me to keep track of hikes and practice web skills.
This is the first Winter that I have ventured out on mountain trails. In the past, I have only hiked mountain trails in the Summer. What an eye-opener–the trails are beautiful in the Winter! The snow on the trails I have hiked has been generally packed down by other hikers, making it relatively easy.
Here is a photo of Section 16 viewed from Colorado Springs. Above Section 16 you see Cameron Cone and the highest mountain is Pikes Peak. The rooftops are the Skyway neighborhood–a very nice location near Bear Creek park, Section 16, and North Cheyenne Canon park.
We hiked the loop counter-clockwise, making the short steep climb first and enjoying the long gradual downhill afterward. It is easier on my knees to go uphill in the steep sections.
LocalHikes.com has a description and reviews of the hike here.

  1. Liked the video and narration, cordeliagirl liked the doggie views and gave you both kisses!! Erinlady liked the fashion shoe-show and the mountain views. Great having the basic typed description, the maps, the photos, and the videos.
We watched while eating dinner, it was like having a visit with you telling us the story.
((Why does my laptop freeze up during the video, and take 25 mins to watch the 13 min video?))
